2014 Fantasy Ultimate Football League CHAMPIONSHIP

Monday  December 22, 2014

FishHead   73.85
Larry Curtis Spurlock, Owner

GTL   72.85
Pat Collins, Owner

Losing a close game is tough. Losing a close playoff game is brutal. GTL 9 suffered a 72.85 to 73.85 loss to FishHead II 10. The two teams combined to score the fewest points this season.
GTL 9 will finish their season at 10 - 6. The win makes it five in a row for FishHead II 10, which gives them a 11 - 5 record.
Three players (Randall Cobb, Le'Veon Bell, and Mark Ingram) delivered victory to FishHead II 10, getting 37.8 of their team's 73.8 points. Bell has now gone five weeks without dipping below the average running back's points. Not only has he been hot recently, but overall he is the 3rd best player in the league.
Despite winning, FishHead II 10 struggled to score points due to seven underperforming players, of whom Donte Moncrief (0.5 points) was the worst. Moncrief might be heading back to the waiver wire after getting picked up before this game.
Meanwhile, GTL 9 had many underperformers, but Andrew Luck stood out, posting only 3.5 points. Luck needed help in more than just the trash talking department on Sunday, as he was limited to 109 yards and threw two interceptions in the blowout loss to the Cowboys.
Jeremy Maclin has to share in some of the blame as well, coming up with 7 fewer points than he was expected to. It's yet another disappointing day for Maclin, who has now underperformed the experts' predictions in five straight games. GTL 9 only had one player who gave a passable performance this week, with Joique Bell scoring 14.7 points.

        chorus
       i can’t say goodbye
       cause you won’t go away
       you do so much wrong
       but you never pay
       is it because you’re black
i can’t say
though i am enjoying
this fascinating play

        1
    is he a philosopher
    is he a savior
    is he an asshole
    what about his behavior

it’s our mayor
marian barry
he’s our mayor
just a little bit scary

still he’s cool
a cool cool fool
is this the end
of his crack pot schemes
if it’s the end
give his civil integrity to him

repeat chorus

      2
      is he untouchable
      we’ll soon see
      was he too horny
       a cocaine bee

      it’s our mayor
      marian barry
      been beat up
      he’s got to be weary

      still he’s our mayor
though he says he won’t run
      but the people love him
      he’s number one

       ~ hook ~

      repeat chorus

can't be happy at christmas

6 21 254 9
2007.

larry curtis spurlock

can’t be happy at christmas
.
1
there’s some people i’m told
so sullen and cold
that they can’t be
happy at christmas
when the big day arrives
in most of their lives
they wonder what happened
to their wish list
and they cry because their lives
are so listless

2
there’s a signpost on the road
that exacerbates their load
and they wonder why they feel
such sadness
so they turn left and right
from the day into the night
because they know life comes down
to good and badness
and they sigh feeling trapped
by all the madness

3
how would you feel if you knew
why the sky was so blue
and the clouds were just
water and air
would it make you realize
how the bird flys
or why they are always
in a pair
would you be amazed or still
not really care

4
and everything shall pass
like the drink from the glass
our time on this planet
is so fleeting
but if you don’t understand
the majesty of this plan
perhaps you must arrange
such a meeting
to find out why your heart
is really beating

5
the cornerstone is set
to carry all the debt
that is known as the
building’s foundation
and our lives are the same
because of where we came
is what is known as
the eternal creation
and it’s recorded in time
as the manifestation

6
yes they can wind their lives uptight
and hope with all their might
that they can get across
the narrow isthmus
they can scream – they can shout
they can cry – they can pout
but until they make it
their business
they will continue to swing
and miss much

and still they won’t be
happy at christmas

down on jonquil lane

verse 1
i remember in my first football game
i ran towards the wrong goal
and in my first baseball game
i threw the bat out of control
the first bicycle ride i ever took
was on a bike that i stole
and i caught my long britches leg
right in the chain

hook
down on jonquil lane

verse 2
to get to my elementary school
i had to ride the yellow bus
although many times i missed it
and that sure caused a fuss
i was always late because
so many morning things to discuss
arithmatic, english and history
rolling around in my brain

hook
down on jonquil lane

verse 3
growing up meant many things
not the least was the girl thing
i found i could get all the attention
if i learned all the words to sing
and it all seemed to explode big
when the weather turned to spring
would it be okay if i mentioned
someone(thing) named mary jane

hook
down on jonquil lane

~ bridge ~

verse 4
once you have become grown
you gotta get a car
life changes at that particular time
a bike won’t get you that far
and what you get sitting in that driver’s seat
surely can be described as bizarre
but no matter what happens
you’re taught not to complain

hook
down on jonquil lane

omega
throughout all the many years
through happiness and pain
i find myself thinking about being

hook
down on jonquil lane

(5x-out)

island retreat

1st verse
i’m just an old wordsmith
living down here in the keys
it gets hot in the summer
but in the winter i don’t freeze
sometimes i get away
fishing out on the high seas
but mostly i just hang around
enjoying the life of ease

hook
that’s what i’m doing in this town
i don’t let anything get me down
you’ll never catch me with a frown
i never make a lonesome sound
i’m doing fine on this isle
you can see it in my smile
nothing’s going to cramp my style
i guess i’ll stay here for a while

2nd verse
i’m just a lyrical composer
at the end of this island chain
spending the nights with miss brandy
and the days with mary jane
i’m just as happy in the sunshine
as i am in the rain
and if ever i get homesick
i just jump on an airplane

repeat hook

~bridge~

3rd verse
i’m just a supernatural cosmic cowboy
living life out on the range
and if you knew me in my prime
you’d know it isn’t all that strange
and the ones that have always known me
know that i’m never going to change
cause there’s nothing in my past
that i’d ever rearrange

repeat hook

2 great 70s Tunes by: PURE PRARIE LEAGUE

1975

From the Two Lane Highway album / CD

Pure Prairie League

Written by: Mike Reilly & Larry Goshorn

Accompanying Vocals by the great Emmylou Harris

Just Can’t Believe It

I know that it’s supposed to be all over
And I know that I can take it, if that’s the way it has to be
But you see it’s been so long we’ve been together
That I just can’t believe it, anyway

It’s so hard to say goodbye to one who loves you
When you know that you might never meet again
And I know we both will cry and miss each other
That I just can’t believe it, anyway

Here we stand, hand in hand, not knowing what to say

Now I open the door and as we’re goin’
These tears in our eyes threaten to give us both away
And for once now our hearts are really showin’

Still I just can’t believe it, anyway

No I just can’t believe it, anyway

Sister's Keeper

Coke an' Jamaican rum
Sleepin' by your gun
Close my eyes

And I wake up with the phone
Yes I'm worried all the times

I come to ya baby just to blow my lines
Every day's a wonder

Each night is a lone one

Poppers deal hands they play games
Making us the same
In this dream

You're princess and I, a king
Exchanging tokens with the palace guards

Just plain livin' couldn't be that hard
And it's all in the givin'

When you're a keeper

Tuscon Arizona... Casa Grandes over my shoulder
And these evening feelings come so strong
All I wanna do is say

And all I wanna say is done
We've begun
We've begun

Falling in the face of love
Trying to keep our heads above
Two time

Tryin' deals we've all had
Tell me who's troubled over spoken words

I can't remember a thing we've heard
Yes I'm speaking to you

And not the receiver

Coke an' Jamaican rum
Sleepin' by your gun
Drive free cars

When you stay with a friend of mine
Staying happy all the time

Rich men empty their pockets just to save their minds
As their fortunes mistress

Will rain to meet you

Cannot deceive her a sister's keeper

stepping across sanctuary’s threshold

1st verse
you can take the star
off my antechamber door
i’m no longer the hero
all the populous adore
for many years i was
if you were keeping score
i don’t know what the future
has in store
don’t even know
what i’m living for
and i don’t write love songs anymore

hook
just a step away from
sanctuary’s threshold
step step stepping across
sanctuary’s threshold
just a step away from
sanctuary’s threshold
step step stepping across
sanctuary’s threshold
step step stepping across
sanctuary’s threshold
step step stepping across
sanctuary’s threshold

2nd verse
you can strip away
my legendary lore
i no longer deserve
to be top floor
i’m not saying
i’m loathed and abhorred
my memories are rich
although my pockets are now poor
i’m still the same man
at my core
and i don’t write love songs anymore

repeat hook (2 x)

epilogue (repeat 10 x – out)

kissing in the dark

chorus
kissing in the dark
(oh what a lark)
kissing kinda coy
(oh what a boy)
kissing spit curls
(oh what a girl)

 start holding hands
then you’ll understand
what kissing in the dark leads to

if she’s a little shy
(my oh my)
he could give a try
(eye to eye)
sweet words in the ear
(what you want to hear)

give a little hug
cut a little rug
that’s what kissing in the dark leads to
(what kissing in the dark leads to)

1st verse
a boy needs someone
to have and to hold
a girl wants the touch
more than silver or gold

when it’s late at night
underneath the starry skies
romantically, they can come together
and share the love prize

repeat chorus

2nd verse
when the lights are out
and one special person around
you could play a magical game
with the one you’ve found

he could cuddle up to her
and hold her body tight
she could smooch upon his ears
with her tender bite

repeat chorus – 2x

what kissing in the dark leads to
(what kissing in the dark leads to)
all
(what kissing in the dark leads toooo ou ouu ou ouu ooooooo)

Beatles wish LARRY a Happy Birthday

WHEN   I'M   64

Lennon / McCartney

When I get older losing my hair,
Many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings bottle of wine?

If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door,
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

oo oo oo oo oo oo oo oooo
You'll be older too, (ah ah ah ah ah)
And if you say the word,
I could stay with you.

I could be handy mending a fuse
When your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride.

Doing the garden, digging the weeds,
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage
In the Isle of Wight, if it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck, and Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line,
Stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, Wasting Away.

Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

Whoo!

The following is a glossary of contents chronicling the lyrical literary works of American artist, Larry Curtis Spurlock.

.It must be, immediately, pointed out that all these pieces are written sans upper case and with minimal punctuation. (Author’s preference)

The 1st piece (hope with dope) was written in 1971 in the Kitchen of 104 W. Concord Court in Sterling, Virginia. The most recent; piece # 291 (stepping across sanctuary's threshold) was penned just last week.

This Blog has, previously, published 52 of these works. Tuesdays had been desiginated amateur lyricist day while better known published pieces by other artists appeared on Thursdays. In the coming weeks, more of ‘best of’ will appear for your viewing pleasure.

Be aware that these lyrics are stationed in categories as if they were songs on albums / CDs. Each volume illustrates several chapters. Each chapter depicts several albums / CDs.

Each album / CD will present lyrical Pieces intended for musical arrangement

As artistic note, the first few chapters are inadequate in composition and can be considered merely as practice.
.There are two lyrical Scores in this collection written for Stage Plays.

They are: Volume I – Chapter 7 entitled baby owl blues

and Volume IV – Chapter 16 entitled baby baby: the princess flower.
.Soon, this Blog will begin a 16 week odyssey publishing the works of baby baby: the princess flower.
And soonthereafter, baby owl blues.
.
.Thank you, very kindly.
I am sincerely
The Blogmeister
