stepping across sanctuary’s threshold

1st verse
you can take the star
off my antechamber door
i’m no longer the hero
all the populous adore
for many years i was
if you were keeping score
i don’t know what the future
has in store
don’t even know
what i’m living for
and i don’t write love songs anymore

hook
just a step away from
sanctuary’s threshold
step step stepping across
sanctuary’s threshold
just a step away from
sanctuary’s threshold
step step stepping across
sanctuary’s threshold
step step stepping across
sanctuary’s threshold
step step stepping across
sanctuary’s threshold

2nd verse
you can strip away
my legendary lore
i no longer deserve
to be top floor
i’m not saying
i’m loathed and abhorred
my memories are rich
although my pockets are now poor
i’m still the same man
at my core
and i don’t write love songs anymore

repeat hook (2 x)

epilogue (repeat 10 x – out)

step step stepping across
sanctuary’s threshold

kissing in the dark

chorus
kissing in the dark
(oh what a lark)
kissing kinda coy
(oh what a boy)
kissing spit curls
(oh what a girl)

 start holding hands
then you’ll understand
what kissing in the dark leads to

if she’s a little shy
(my oh my)
he could give a try
(eye to eye)
sweet words in the ear
(what you want to hear)

give a little hug
cut a little rug
that’s what kissing in the dark leads to
(what kissing in the dark leads to)

1st verse
a boy needs someone
to have and to hold
a girl wants the touch
more than silver or gold

when it’s late at night
underneath the starry skies
romantically, they can come together
and share the love prize

repeat chorus

2nd verse
when the lights are out
and one special person around
you could play a magical game
with the one you’ve found

he could cuddle up to her
and hold her body tight
she could smooch upon his ears
with her tender bite

repeat chorus – 2x

what kissing in the dark leads to
(what kissing in the dark leads to)
all
(what kissing in the dark leads toooo ou ouu ou ouu ooooooo)

Beatles wish LARRY a Happy Birthday

WHEN   I'M   64

Lennon / McCartney

When I get older losing my hair,
Many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings bottle of wine?

If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door,
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

oo oo oo oo oo oo oo oooo
You'll be older too, (ah ah ah ah ah)
And if you say the word,
I could stay with you.

I could be handy mending a fuse
When your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride.

Doing the garden, digging the weeds,
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

Every summer we can rent a cottage
In the Isle of Wight, if it's not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck, and Dave

Send me a postcard, drop me a line,
Stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, Wasting Away.

Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

Whoo!

The following is a glossary of contents chronicling the lyrical literary works of American artist, Larry Curtis Spurlock.

.It must be, immediately, pointed out that all these pieces are written sans upper case and with minimal punctuation. (Author’s preference)

The 1st piece (hope with dope) was written in 1971 in the Kitchen of 104 W. Concord Court in Sterling, Virginia. The most recent; piece # 291 (stepping across sanctuary's threshold) was penned just last week.

This Blog has, previously, published 52 of these works. Tuesdays had been desiginated amateur lyricist day while better known published pieces by other artists appeared on Thursdays. In the coming weeks, more of ‘best of’ will appear for your viewing pleasure.

Be aware that these lyrics are stationed in categories as if they were songs on albums / CDs. Each volume illustrates several chapters. Each chapter depicts several albums / CDs.

Each album / CD will present lyrical Pieces intended for musical arrangement

As artistic note, the first few chapters are inadequate in composition and can be considered merely as practice.
.There are two lyrical Scores in this collection written for Stage Plays.

They are: Volume I – Chapter 7 entitled baby owl blues

and Volume IV – Chapter 16 entitled baby baby: the princess flower.
.Soon, this Blog will begin a 16 week odyssey publishing the works of baby baby: the princess flower.
And soonthereafter, baby owl blues.
.
.Thank you, very kindly.
I am sincerely
The Blogmeister

D. B. Cooper

Nov. 2012 - May 28, 2013
riddell

 larry  curtis  spurlock

d b cooper

verse 1
on the day before thanksgiving
in nineteen seventy-one
a man named d b cooper
was just about to have some fun
he paid twenty dollars cash
to fly from portland to seattle
but at ten thousand feet above the earth
he was just beginning his battle

hook
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
.. whatever happened to him

verse 2
he demanded two hundred thousand dollars in cash
with four parachutes to be available
and after a smoke and a bourbon or two
he jumped from the aft unassailable
somewhere near mount st. helens
in clark county near lewis river
wearing just a suit and tie and loafers
without the slightest shiver

hook
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
.. whatever happened to him

verse 3
in the year following the cooper jump
thirty-one copycat hijackings occurred
none of these events were successful
at least that’s what i’ve heard
some wanted to go to cuba
but money was always requested
one or two were killed by the law
all the others were arrested

hook
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
.. whatever happened to him

verse 4
even though cooper was never found
and the money never recovered
lots o’ people claim they were he
yet no proof was ever discovered
kenneth christianson fits all the clues
brad meltzer would agree
william gossett so obsessed with the crime
and the proof is there to see

hook
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
.. whatever happened to him

bridge

verse 5
richard mccoy hijacked a similar plane
right out of the open sky
but escaped from the prison they put him in
then killed by the f.b.i.
duane weber confessed on his deathbed
that he was cooper, too
drank the same bourbon & smoked the same cigarettes
and knew all the secret clues

hook
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
.. whatever happened to him

verse 6
now john emil list was a veteran
where he taught a skydiving school
admitted to killing his family
and admitted to the skyjacking dual
barbara dayton was the strangest
to be considered of interest
born a man but after gender surgery
proved to be the best

hook
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
.. whatever happened to him

verse 7
ted mayfield, jack coffelt and lynn cooper
rounded out the rest
of the possibility of being cooper
all passing the information test
but nobody really knows
if cooper lived or he died
but the story is historical lore
to which nobody has denied

hook
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
.. whatever happened to him

bridge

verse 8
while d b cooper is a cultural phenomenon
an air pirate extortionist
who endangered the lives of forty-two people
a brave courageous proportionate
still an american hero
so polite and calm with a plan
the stewardess’ and pilots tell us
he was a cool suave gentleman

hook
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
d b cooper  (cooper  cooper  cooper)
.. whatever happened to him

verse 9   (repeat verse 1)

hook   (3x – out)

Ben Franklin

7_23_277_eleven
Nov. 2012 - May 28, 2013

larry curtis  spurlock

belles de franklin

stanza 1-8
born of a sunday
in boston of that time
was sinful and
the puritans called it a crime

josiah the father
and abiah his spouse
soon baptized the child
at the old south meeting house

stanza 9-16
17 years would pass
before the widow read
entered into common-law marriage
without her property deed

before that a young lady
prostitute by trade
bared his illegitimate son
her memory soon to fade

stanza 17-24
a move to phi-town
would bring upon this topic
a virile unruly gentleman
whose reputation became myopic

but it wasn’t until europe
a destination in 1757
london frankfort paris
presented a femme heaven

stanza 25-32
whispers of a married madame brillon
to whom love letters were sent
brought great importance to america’s cause
with all the money she spent

we shant forget madame helvetius
to whom he actually proposed
but so sorry unable to marry
until wife deborah disposed

stanza 33-40
countess d’houdetot so influential
helping america succeed
and duchess de la rochefoucauld
a political lady in need

surely there were many others
who shared his intellect and chaise
not to mention his interest
in his party’s base

stanza 41-48
and so the belles of benjamin
lovely and spicey and proper
lend a view into americana
quite the historical show stopper

ladies of means and sexuality
presenting their points of view
happily exploited by ben franklin
not all for the red white & blue
