Dear Blog

Dear Blog

Well, today’s outside air Temperature is predicted to reach nearly 100 degrees .. making it our 4th consecutive day in the high 90s here in LoCo, VA.
:parishilton: That’s hot ! :parishilton:
I guess it’s time to go back to Key West, Florida to cool down. At least those Ocean / Gulf breezes blow the humidity away.

So, the Boston Celtics protect their turf (read: hardwood) by sweeping both of their Home games against the Los Angeles Lakers, going up 2 games to none to begin the NBAs 2008 League Finals. They won, last night, 108-102 after winning Game 1, 98-88, on Thursday.
I don’t really care; I hate both teams .. but I hate the Lakers, more.

On Saturday, Big Brown did not become the first thoroughbred Racehorse in 30 years and just the 12th EVER to win Racing’s Triple Crown. That’s the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes. Quite an accomplishment !
Secretariat (in 1973), Seattle Slew (in 1977) and Affirmed (in 1978) were great Racehorses who won the coveted Triple Crown in my lifetime .. but this Big Brown could have been the best of them ALL.
But who really knows ? :dunno:
His Jockey, Kent Desormeaux, pulled back on his horse about 2/3 the way around the track. “I had no horse” said Desormeaux.
Something was, definitely, wrong .. but at this reporting, nothing medically has been discovered. Apparently, Big Brown did not feel like competing on this past Saturday .. and that may be all.

The Washington Nationals baseball team lost another series (at Home) and now are 14 games under .500. Technically speaking .. they suck !
I hope that I, still, want to go to that new Ballpark in SE Washington on July 12 when I have tickets to see then play .. thanks to the very generous and gracious, Ruby Eastham.

Kasey Kahne won NASCAR’s Pocono 500 Race on Sunday .. with Brian Vickers 2nd and Joe Gibbs Racing’s young Denny Hamlin finishing 3rd.

And, Broad Run High School’s (Ashburn, Virginia) Girl’s Softball team won their 57th straight game and 2nd consecutive Virginia State Championship by beating Tunstall High .. 4-0. This team has not lost a game since 2006. Broad Run finished 28-0 .. and college bound Pitcher, Caitlyn Delahaba pitched nearly 200 innings without giving up a single Earned Run. Absolutely astounding !
Broad Run’s Girl’s Soccer team, also, won the Virginia State Championship on Saturday, in their Sport. Kudos to all those athletes !

The last show of the Season for Ax Men (on the History Channel) aired on Sunday night .. just in time for the Season Premiere of Ice Road Truckers.

Jakob Dylan (ex Wallflowers .. but still Son of Bob Dylan) appeared at Washington, D.C.s 9:30 Club on Saturday night previewing many songs from his new solo CD, Seeing Things.

Lastly, I don’t care who won Tennis’ French Open .. do you ?

R.I.P. Jim McKay. The legendary Sports Announcer passed away this weekend at age 86.

I hope to see you, tomorrow, for amateur Lyricist day at this URL.

My time is, now, up .. I thank you for yours.
