Just maybe, Thom’s advice on his earlier visit at Milford Hospital was the impetus that his father needed to protect his own health. It was a strange occurrence how that worked out. Strange indeed.
.
Thom walked slowly back towards where the Orb was waiting for him. He was truly soaking the ambiance and in seeing his old town. Something that would not have happened had it not been for the EOBs accident in Coventry and the mistaken departure with Thom aboard. But, then again, the EOB would not have had the luxury of having Thom explore each destination to determine the locale and time period.
.
As Thom passed by the local landmarks walking down main Street, he was reminded of Jimmy Stewart in It’s A Wonderful Life saying hello Emporium, hello old Savings & Loan, hello Bistro; while Thom was saying goodbye Movie Theatre, goodbye Hahn’s Shoe store, goodbye old man Clark’s and Clark’s Drugstore.
.
By the time that Thom reached the Hospital’s wooded area, the Police cars that had previously followed him, were not anywhere in sight. Thom stood in the parking lot where his first Jump landed him and watching his parents carry him as a young infant to the car where the picture was taken that Thom remembered seeing for most of his life.
.
Then, sadly Thom walked to the other side of the parking lot and into the wooded underbrush to where the Orb was partially hidden. He walked up the front section that was facing the nearby creek. The hatch opened, Thom climbed in and it closed, behind him. And within an instant, they were gone.
.
..
… goodbye Movie Theatre, goodbye Hahn’s Shoe store, goodbye … Clark’s Drugstore. ...

TWO COWS

Friday September 25, 2009
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

TWO COWS ..
.
as explained by Politicians and Corporations

A CHRISTIAN DEMOCRAT:
You have two cows. You keep one and give one to your neighbor.
.
A SOCIALIST:
You have two cows. The government takes one .. and gives it to your neighbor.
.
AN AMERICAN REPUBLICAN:
You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. So freaking what !
.
AN AMERICAN DEMOCRAT:
You have two cows. Your neighbor doesn’t have a cow. You feel guilty for owning a cow. You vote people into office .. who tax your cows, forcing you to sell one to raise money to pay the taxes. The people you voted for then take the tax money and buy a cow .. and give it to your neighbor fo free. Now, you feel righteous.
.
A COMMUNIST:
You have two cows. The government seizes both of them - and provides you with milk.
.
A FASCIST:
You have two cows. The government seizes both and sells you the milk. You join the underground .. and start a campaign of sabotage.
.
DEMOCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE:
You have two cows. The government taxes you to the point you have to sell both to support a man in a foreign country who has only one cow .. which was a gift from your government.
.
CAPITALISM, AMERICAN STYLE:
You have two cows. You sell one - buy a bull .. and build a herd of cows.

BUREAUCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE:
You have two cows. The government takes them both - shoots one .. milks the other .. and pays you for the milk - then pours the milk down the drain.
.
AN AMERICAN CORPORATION:
You have two cows. You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows. You are shocked when the cow drops dead.
.
A FRENCH CORPORATION:
You have two cows. You go on strike because you want three cows.
.
A JAPANESE CORPORATION:
You have two cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. You then create a clever cow cartoon images called Cowkimon .. and market them World-Wide.
.
A GERMAN CORPORATION:
You have two cows. You reengineer them so they live for 100 years, eat once a month .. and milk themselves.
.
A BRITISH CORPORATION:
You have two cows. They are mad. They die. Pass the shepherd's pie, please.
.
AN ITALIAN CORPORATION:
You have two cows, but you don't know where they are. You break for lunch.
.
A RUSSIAN CORPORATION:
You have two cows. You count them and learn you have five cows. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. You count them again and learn you have 12 cows. You stop counting cows .. and open another bottle of vodka.
.
A SWISS CORPORATION:
You have 5000 cows, none of which belong to you. You charge others for storing them.
.
A BRAZILIAN CORPORATION:
You have two cows. You enter into a partnership with an American corporation. Soon you have 1000 cows .. and the American corporation declares bankruptcy.
.
AN INDIAN CORPORATION:
You have two cows. You worship both of them.

A CHINESE CORPORATION:
You have two cows. You have 300 people milking them. You claim full employment, high bovine productivity, and arrest the newsman who reported on them.
.
AN ISRAELI CORPORATION:
There are these two Jewish cows ..right ? They open a milk factory, an ice cream store, and then sell the movie rights. They send their calves to Harvard to become Doctors. So, who needs people ?
.
AN ARKANSAS CORPORATION:
You have two cows. That one on the left is really cute.

Clark Repaid

After daydreaming for far longer than he had planned, Thom headed back over to the Oxford Road area of Milford. By the time that he encountered the dead end circle, he could hear the sound of the lawnmower as his earlier self was mowing Ms. Stinson’s grass. Soon enough, Thom saw the Police Cruiser coming up the Road. He knew that with the snafu ironed out at Clark’s Drugstore, that the authorities were not looking for him but with him mowing Ms. Stinson’s grass in the exact same clothes that stood out, being 42 years from the future, Thom ducked down behind some bushes and scrubs. As the Cruiser made the turn at the circle and slowly drove back down to the front of Ms. Stinson’s house, Thom waited for them to knock at Ms. Stinson’s door and for them to retreat to the rear of her home.
.
Then, Thom raced back down there just as his previous self was running away from her front yard. Thom had left the mower running, earlier, although he had completed the mowing operation. Once he reached Ms. Stinson’s house, he saw Ms. Stinson, his father and the two Policemen enter his family’s house’s side door. Thom shut off the mower and pushed it to the back of the house where he had seen a garden hose and began to wash the mower’s undercarriage out. Then, he returned the mower to the shed in his family’s back yard.
The task was done and he, now, could leave with a clear conscious.
.
By then, Ms. Stinson came out of Thom’s family house and met with Thom at her back porch. She apologized to Thom for her absence and asked him inside so that she could pay him. Once inside, she told Thom that the Police knew the Martin’s, next door and had come to see their new born baby. She then, took a pot of coffee off the stove and poured herself and Thom a cup. Still, mistakenly thinking Thom was her new Gardner, she allowed that he (Thom) took sugar and cream in his coffee and added it as she spoke.
.
… as his previous self was running away ..

Thank you, MIA RB Ronnie Brown !
My third round Fantasy Draft pick.
I passed on several more lucrative RBs when I drafted
the Brady / Moss combo.
This week Brady & Moss fizzled but Brown picked me up, fantastically.
.
Brown ran the Dolphins Wildcat offense to perfection
on Monday Night Football
scoring 2 TDs and running for 136 yards on 24 carries;
many of them coming from the shotgun position.
The Dolphins lost to the Indianapolis Colts 27-23
after holding the ball, offensively for more than 3/4 of the game.
But who cares - this Fantasy Football .. and I got what I came for.
:-)
.
My FishHeads II team entered Monday Night's game trailing
the Holmes' brothers team, 92 - 78.
To win the contest, I need Brown to accumulate 15 Fantasy points for me.
That would basically be 90 total yards and a TD or 150 total yards, alone.
And he excedded that propelling me to my first victory of the season.
.
Next week my FishHeads II team takes on
the non Division 1-1 Sully team.

DR. LIVINGOOD

September 18, 2009
* * * * * * * * * * * * *

An interesting anecdote of:
.
DR. LIVINGOOD
.
Yes, that’s his real name.
.
.
.
Dr. J.K. Livingood of Herndon, Virginia was always in a jovial mood and cussed without thought. THAT is how I knew he was a good Doctor – my Mother hated people cussing but always took me to him, regardless.

Dr. Livingood came to Herndon right out of Med School in 1958. He was a bachelor and drove a 1958, dark blue, Thunderbird, convertible.

I don’t remember my very 1st visit to the good Doctor but my parents took me to him for various ailments during my childhood. I was taken to him when I was hit by a pitched ball and knocked groggy in Little League in 1960. The next year, I was taken to him when I fell from the back of a station wagon vehicle at DayCamp and knocked unconscious as my head banged off the concrete curb. I even went to him on my own when I feared that I had some type VD as a teenager. (it was just wear & tear .. if you know what I mean)
Many times I found myself in his care when I succumbed to the Flu or Poision Ivy infections.
It seemed that the first thing that I was always asked to do was to go hehind the curtain and pee in a bottle.

On one occasion when I was about 22 years old, I went to see him. I don’t recall what the ailment was that I had. Regardless, his Receptionist/Nurse, Mrs. Hunter, took me back to his Office/Examining Room and he immediately summoned me to the curtain and handed me the little bottle to pee in. I did. When I returned, the Doctor dipped a piece of litmus paper into the urine (as he always did). Without looking at me, he remarked that I had been eating Pistachio Nuts, hadn’t I ?
I. Was. Amazed ! Flabergasted, I was. Astonished.
I looked at him and told him that I was dumbfounded that medical advances had been made to the point where a Doctor could dip a piece of litmus paper into someone’s urine and immediately conclude that person had been eating Pistachio Nuts. I couldn’t halt my bewilderment.
I continued. Praising him for his ability to analyze this medical breakthrough. I sat there shaking my head trying to come to grips with the advancements being made in the medical community. This was truly a fascinating development.

Finally, Dr. Livingood looked up at me and nonchalantly told me that he could see the red dye stains on my fingers, from commercial Pistachio Nuts.

:GildaRadner: Never mind. :GildaRadner:

Go To The Mirror

Doctor:
He seems to be completely unreceptive.
The tests I gave him show no sense at all.
His eyes react to light the dials detect it.
He hears but cannot answer to your call.
.
Tommy:
See me, feel me, touch me, heal me.
See me, feel me, touch me, heal me.
.
Doctor:
There is no chance no untried operation.
All hope lies with him and none with me.
Imagine though the shock from isolation.
When he suddenly can hear and speak and see.
.
Tommy:
See me, feel me, touch me, heal me.
See me, feel me, touch me, heal me.
.
Doctor:
His eyes can hearhis ears can see his lips speak
All the time the needles flick and rock.
No machine can give the kind of stimulation,
Needed to remove his inner block.
Go to the mirror boy!
Go to the mirror boy!
.
Father:
I often wonder what he's feeling.
Has he ever heard a word I've said?
Look at him now in the mirror dreaming
What is happening in his head?
.
Tommy:
Listening to you
I get the music.
Gazing at you
I get the heat
Following you
I climb the mountain
I get excitement at your feet!
Right behind you
I see the millions
On you
I see the glory.
From you
I get the opinions
From you I get the story.
.
Father:
What is happening in his head
Ooooh I wish I knew,
I wish I knew.

The EOB suggested to Thom that the stopover in Milford would probably only require an hour at most for the Orb’s recovering vacillating vent to remedy and re-modify itself for the next stepping stone Jump. It appeared that other than the needed stepping stones, the EOB was back in control of his ship. The gauges were responding to his mental manipulations although Thom, still, could not decipher their informational meanings. Regardless, the reverse time schedule had been rectified and both passengers were glad that there would be no dinosaur battles to contend with.
.
Thom was relieved although the possibility of spending some time in Israel in ’01 BC would have been overwhelmingly breathtaking. And who would not want to witness as the Pyramids were being constructed in ancient Egypt around 5000 BC or the Roman Coliseum in ’70 AD. There were other historical feats that would fill one’s imagination with creative acknowledgement such as the Callicrates’ Iktinos erecting the Parthenon and one of the greatest mysteries of all time, the construction of Stonehenge in approximately 2500 BC.
.
But these mysteries would have to remain just that because Thom had lived through many other moments of history that would fill a lifetime of rumination and stupefaction. Yes, there are many mysteries of the World that lay about without understanding nor proof of inauguration but Thom had experienced other more recent historical scopes that no one, to his knowledge had ever vetted save for the possibilities of one Mr. Herbert George Wells or even Mr. Jules Gabriel Verne.
.
Still, all that is just conjuncture but what is real and now is Thom redressing himself in his 2008 clothing and carrying with him some of his 1964 currency and righting a wrong that he, himself had created.
.
With that said, the Orb’s postern opened and Thom climbed out.
.
… one Mr. Herbert George Wells or even Mr. Jules Gabriel Verne. ..

Firstly, let me welcome our newest franchise to the F U League;
his name is Pat Collins and he is a special assignment field on air reporter
for Washington D.C. NBC affiliate WRC channel 4.
Perhaps you have seen him. His schtick (among others) is carrying around a wooden ruler
during local snowfalls and measuring the depth of the snow.
So, welcome Pat.
.
Secondly, I'll get right to my game, this week:
as you can see (above) I lost 113 - 88. That's a 25 point margin ..
BUT I had 2 of my WRs injured and scoring zero points each.
WHILE on my bench sat 2 other WRs with 26 points.
'Nuff said !

And so this year begins as last year ended (for me)
with just another hard luck story.

Pinball Wizard

Local Lad:
Ever since I was a young boy,
I've played the silver ball.
From Soho down to Brighton
I must have played them all.
But I ain't seen nothing like him
In any amusement hall...
That deaf dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pin ball !
.
He stands like a statue,
Becomes part of the machine.
Feeling all the bumpers
Always playing clean.
He plays by intuition,
The digit counters fall.
That deaf dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pin ball !
.
.
He's a pin ball wizard
There has got to be a twist.
A pin ball wizard,s'got
such a supple wrist.
'How do you think he does it?
I don't know!
What makes him so good?'
He ain't got no distractions
Can't hear those buzzers and bells,
Don't see lights a flashin
'Plays by sense of smell.
Always has a replay,
'n' never tilts at all...
That deaf dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pin ball.
.
.
I thought I was
The Bally table king.
But I just handed
My pin ball crown to him.
Even my usual table
He can beat my best.
His disciples lead him in
And he just does the rest.
He's got crazy flipper fingers
Never seen him fall...
That deaf dumb and blind kind
Sure plays a mean pin ball.!!!!!

5500 YEARS FROM HOME

chapter Fourteen … page 125

Clark Repaid

With that said, the Orb’s postern opened and Thom climbed out.
.

… one Mr. Herbert George Wells or even Mr. Jules Gabriel Verne. ..

Lemur Kingdom

Friday September 4, 2009
** ********************* **

TV show

.
LEMUR KINGDOM

.

On Animal Planet

.

.
I’m mad as Hell .. and I’m not buying that ‘Nature Rule’ sh!t, anymore !

I enjoy watching PBS and Discovery Channel and Learning Channel and Animal Planet .. and I, especially, like watching the Nature and/or Animal shows.
Animal Planet’s - Animal Precinct is a good show because they ferret out Animals who are being mistreated by humans. Then, they provide food, water and medical treatment for those in need. Sometimes, they even hold the owners or supposed care takers responsible for their actions .. or inactions. Then they find new and decent homes for these creatures.
THAT is the compassionate thing to do. To help those in need.
I’ve seen them help dozens of needy Animals and even Insects and Reptiles. Once, they happened upon a frog that had a broken leg. They took the Frog into their Clinic and operated on it. They set the broken leg .. and kept it until it could fend and forage for itself, again. Then, they released it back into it’s proper habitat.
THIS, I like .. because (unlike my siblings) I have compassion.

I, especially, like the shows Meercat Manor and Orangutan Island. On Orangutan Island, Ms. Lone Dröscher Nielsen takes in baby orphaned Orangutans and raises them with the help of her Technicians at her Rehabilitation Center. Then, she transports them to a nearby uninhabited island where they live out their lives with the help of her fruit and vegetable drop-offs. Again, this is helping Animals that are in need.

But, what makes me angry is the so called ‘Nature Rule’. That’s the [rule] that we as humans should not interfere in ‘Nature’s Way’. Well, first of all – Animal Precinct helps mistreated Dogs and/or Cats. And Ms. Nielson helps the orphaned Orangutans. (and I’m happy for it .. )

But WHY is there this ‘Nature’s Rule’ that’s invoked at times ?
Which times you ask ? Well, Animal Planet has a new show that debuted last year called Lemur Kingdom. It’s about several competing groups of Ring Tailed Lemurs. I like these little Animals. They are cute and have a unique hierarchy just like all humans/animals do.
And like some of the other shows, they have a camera crew that follows them around.
But this week, a bully/brat older Lemur pushes the smallest Lemur out of a tree and the little guy (Gizmo) breaks his hind leg. The narrator tells us right up front that this hurt Lemur’s mother is the controlling Female who vies for the PackLeader position. So, even though the little guy is still in baby status – his mother will not care for him. Another Lemur the same age as Gizmo gets carried everywhere by his mother. We are told that Gizmo will not live more than 24 hours.

And this Madagascarian Lemur group is a long way from home when a thunderstorm breaks out and it rains all night, soaking them all. But the next morning, Gizmo is still alive.
So, as the Lemur pack heads on back to their home territory, Gizmo is left behind, limping badly. The others stop and forage on apples but by the time Gizmo catches up to eat – the others are full and move on. The pack makes it back home and climbs up in the Rainforest’s canopy to sleep. Gizmo finally limps back in the middle of the night even though the narrator tells us he won’t make it.

Morning comes finding Gizmo still alive. The group goes out foraging again leaving Gizmo struggling behind. When he finds the group eating big ripe berries, high in the trees – he can’t climb up to where they are because of his leg. So, he eats not quite ripe smaller berries. But by the time he starts to eat – the group is moving on.

It turns out Gizmo has lived nearly 5 days by show’s end. But I understand from the show’s website that Gizmo finally dies.
Okay, that’s nature. Like it or not. And I don’t ! I’m not going to argue God or WHY this set up. THAT can be discussed at another time.
No, my problem today is this: If the Orangutans can accept some help .. and if Animal Precinct can rescue Dogs & Cats .. THEN WHY .. WHY
can’t that #&%*! film crew rescue this poor animal ?
Forget that Gizmo’s still a baby. Forget that his mother provides no support. Forget that he has a broken leg.
WHERE’S THE COMPASSION ? ?
F*** that ‘Nature’s Rule’ crap. Pick the little guy up and take him and mend his leg, feed him a little. Keep him sequestered for a while .. then turn him back loose. Where’s the harm ?

Call it Welfare. Gizmo showed a lot more heart than 99 % of the current Welfare recipients.

Can you imagine a 2 year old child walks away from his house and starts to cross a busy street. Surely to be run over and killed .. and someone says .. no, don’t interfere .. ‘Nature’s Rule’.

So, no more ‘Nature’s Rule’ crap !
I’m not saying, going looking for a Wildebeast and kill a Lion stalking him.
But if you’re there with a frigging camera and a lifeling needs help ..
HELP IT !

‘Nuff said.

5500 YEARS FROM HOME

chapter Fourteen … page 122
.
Turnaround

After all, Thom had 1964 money and the fact that it was three years old by 1967, it would not be detectable to anyone. Thom was happy to not only repay Mr. Clark but to regain his credibility. Regardless of the fact that he wasn’t tied to any personal wrongdoing, Thom wanted the memory of his brief time there to be positive and easily forgotten.
.
The journey from the year 1006 was not a short hop and soon enough, Thom had drifted off into cosmic slumber, yet again. His subconscious thoughts may not be guiding the craft, this time but that did not deter the fact that Thom was thinking of his lifetime. His mind culled up a period of time that had nothing to do with any future nor past connotations. It was of a Summer experience during his College years at the University of Maryland.
.
This was before Thom had met Audrey and his girlfriend, back then, was a girl named Debra Coors. Debra was a quick witted person who always seemed to know what to do in any circumstance. She added structure to Thom’s crazy period of his youth. Thom’s under sense was recalling that Debra had introduced him to Country & Western music and they had gone to concerts featuring Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard as well as Tom Jones, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and John Hartford just to name a few.
.
Thom was dreaming about a time that him and two of his dorm roommates and Debra had driven to Ocean City, Maryland. It was July 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 1987. The dates were easy to remember because they had to be back at the University of Maryland’s Cole Field House to see a Willie Nelson concert on July 4th.
.
One of the indelible memories for Thom was that Debra’s roommate had to leave School that week to return to West Virginia because her father was ill. Normally, Debra’s roommate would have been there to watch her cat but with her out of town, the cat had to go.
.
… Debra had introduced him to Country & Western music ..
