Hmmmmmm

Friday October 30, 2009

*
.
It's all a matter of perspective:
.
.
Some folks say today is the first day of the rest of your life ..
.. when in fact - it's the last day of the first part of your life.
.
It's like seeing the glass half empty ..
when someone trys to tell you that it's half full.
.
And the biggest faux pas is when you're told that ..
the most important thing is how you play the game -
when it's sooooo freaking obvious that
the most important thing is unequivocally,
whether you win or lose. D'oh ! ... :slaps forhead:
.
.
The most cosmic coincidence of all time must be the fact that
our Sun is exactly 400 times larger than our Moon
AND the Moon is exactly 400 times closer to Earth than the Sun is.
It's the only true way that there can be a Total Eclipse ..
and it's the only one in our Universe.
.
.
The characters Bert & Ernie from TVs Sesame Street
were named after Bert (the Cop) & Ernie (the Taxi Driver)
on Frank Capri's It's A Wonderful Life
.
.
Ants never sleep; it's a fact.
.
.
Monopoly is still my favorite board & dice game.
.
.
And honestly, how did we survive as a people
before Personal Computers & Cell Phones ?

5500 Years From Home

In addition to the 250 plus Lyrical Pieces that I have written and received Copyright Protection from the Library Of Congress - I have, also, written a Novel (copyrighted but not Published) entitled 5500 Years From Home. I am currently working on a 2nd Book entitled The Island that I am about 1/2 the way towards completion, .. but have suspended at this time.
.
I have decided to, occasionally, post excerpts from
5500 Years From Home in this Blog space.
Today, we peruse the 11th page of Chapter 16 – Page 141.

And even though, the Orb was ready to continue on back to Coventry by 6 AM, the next morning, a knock came on the Suite’s door at 6:15 AM. It appeared that Thom’s commotion the night before had alerted a Hotel employee to the possibility that someone was staying in the Penthouse.
.
Thom and the EOB were prepared to blast off, anyway and by the time the employee had secured a key and entered the Penthouse Suite. The Orb was gone.

Well, after scoring 118 points, last week while losing;
this week I stumbled in with just 91 points
BUT
I won !
And that's all that counts.
It was sad to see my opponent, Big Doggie
lose his only chance at victory when on Monday Night,
Redskins TE Chris Cooley went out of the game
with an injury ..
BUT
even worse as a Redskins fan - Cooley has a broken ankle
and will miss the rest of this season. Sad !
But before you shed any tears for the Dog -
keep in mind that I lost one of my RBs on Sunday
when the Jets RB Leon Washington went out of his game
after only one play with a broken leg.
( this NFL Football is a rough game (read: job) )
I, also, lost one of my WRs, Vikings Bernard Berrian
due to injury as well.
I have lost 6 LineUp members to injury DURING games,
this year .. making it tough to win games.
Patriots QB Tom Brady did throw 3 TD passes
along with 300 plus yards
BUT
his teammate and mine, WR Randy Moss
left the game early, as well.
Texans TE Owen Daniels did quite well for me, this week
with over 100 yards Receiving and a TD.
.
My next week's opponent is WRC TV Reporter, Pat Collins.

I have Brady & Moss out on Bye .. so my job will be
doubly more difficult.

As the evening approached, Thom decided that he would pick up some carry out for Dinner and eat it while remaining at the Hotel. He looked around for a phone but after not finding one, the EOB reiterated what he had explained, earlier and that was just visualize that he had a phone. Thom couldn’t remember every cosmic nuance but was beginning to wonder if he was going to take all these idiosyncrasies with him into his present day. Regardless, Thom visualized calling in a Pizza and sure enough, the Dough Roller answered. For an extra buck, they would deliver. Thom checked his 1964 money collection only to find having exactly enough to pay the Pizza charge and a tip. He would be taking no 1964 money with him back to his present day. Thom gave his address as the Hotel’s but promised to meet the delivery boy by the side door, just off the Boardwalk.
.
Thom waited downstairs and after about 45 minutes, the Pizza delivery boy showed up. As Thom was paying him, sure enough, the older lady in the long black dress could be see riding the Boardwalk Tram down the Boardwalk. Thom started to run after the Tram but it was moving along briskly and running with a Pizza wasn’t that easy. Thom remembered the EOBs words about finding out in time and gave up his pursuit. As Thom started back to the Hotel, he looked up towards the Penthouse to see the EOB looking down upon him. He didn’t acknowledge him because there was no reason to call attention to a futuristic being that was squatting in a yet to be completed Hotel Suite.
.
Thom returned to the Room and ate most of his Pizza before retreating to the balcony and watching the vacationers strut along the Boardwalk.
.
The EOBs fascination with the TVs programs via the news channel was continuing as he sat mesmerized.
.
… For an extra buck, they would deliver. …

the cool fool

1
i used to think
that you were cool
but now i know you're not
you're nothing more
than a stupid fool
whom i despise a lot
you may have
a lot of fans
following you around

10
but those same people
are in need of something
that they think they've found
time will come
it always does
eyes will open wide
then they will see
what you really are
you'll have no place to hide
so off you'll go

20
to another crowd
professing to be red hot
some will believe
that you really are
but most will see you're not
i'm so glad i have learned
the mistake
of my ways
i was young
and i admit

30
to being trapped in your maze
you prey upon
those who want
something more from life
but all you have
to give to them
is toil, trouble .. and strife
may i take
this time right now
to sing of your demise

40
you are probably
just as confused
and it will be a surprise
i don't want
anything
anymore to do with you
so look around
for someone else
you'll have to find someone new
so take your ego

50
and your tuning fork
i have no use for them
but be very careful
where you go
you may be out on a limb
i guess that's fine
it's better than
paying off your bail
cause someone
may come along

60
to take you off to jail

.
Outside the house
Mr. Simpson announced
that Sally couldn't go to the meeting.
He went on cleaning his blue Rolls Royce
and she ran inside weeping.
.
She got to her room
and tears splashed the picture
of the new Messiah.
She picked up a book of her fathers life
and threw it on the fire!
.
.
She knew from the start
Deep down in her heart
That she and Tommy were worlds apart,
But her Mother said never mind your part...Is to be
what you'll be.
...
..
The theme of the sermon was
come unto me,
Love will find a way,
So Sally decided to ignore her dad,
and sneak out anyway!
.
She spent all afternoon getting ready,
and decided she'd try to touch him,
Maybe he'd see that
she was free
and talk to her this Sunday.
.
.
She knew from the start
Deep down in her heart
That she and Tommy were worlds apart,
But her Mother said never mind
your part...Is to be
what you'll be.
.
.
She arrived at six
and the place was swinging
to gospel music by nine.
Group after group appeared on the stage
and Sally just sat there crying.
.
She bit her nails looking pretty as a picture
right in the very front row
And then a DJ wearing a blazer
with a badge
ran on and said 'here we go!
..
The crowd went crazy
As Tommy hit the stage!
Little Sally got lost
as the police bossed
The crowd back in a rage!
.
.
But soon the atmosphere was cooler
as Tommy gave a lesson.
Sally just had to let him know
she loved him
and leapt up on the rostrum!
.
She ran cross stage to the spotlit figure
and touched him on the face
Tommy whirled around as a uniformed man,
threw her of the stage.
.
.
She knew from the start
Deep down in her heart
That she and Tommy were worlds apart,
But her Mother said never mind your part...Is to be
what you'll be.
..
Her cheek hit a chair
and blood trickled down,
mingling with her tears,
Tommy carried on preaching
and his voice filled Sally's ear
.
She caught his eye she had to try
but couldn't see through the lights
Her face was gashed and the ambulance men
had to carry her out that night.
.
.
The crowd went crazy
As Tommy left the stage!
Little Sally was lost for the price of a touch
And a gash across her face!
.
.
OOoooh.
Sixteen stitches put her right
and her Dad said'don't say I didn't warn yer'.
Sally got married to a rock musicians
she met in California
.
Tommy always talks about the day
the disciples all went wild!
Sally still carries a scar on her cheek
to remind her of his smile.
She knew from the start
.
.
Deep down in her heart
That she and Tommy were worlds apart,
But her Mother said never mind your part...Is to be
what you'll be.

Ocean City

.

There was the Old Time Picture Shop where families could dress up in historic old clothing and have their photos taken. This made it appear that they were, somehow, from the past. Thom laughed as he strolled by. If these people only knew where he had just been.
.
He walked by the Ice Cream Store where he had bought a Hot Fudge Sundae once and couldn’t eat it all. He browsed the windows of stores selling Sunglasses, Bikinis, Novelty Items and Clothing Stores too numerous to mention. Thom decided that he needed a pair of Shorts to wear while at the Beach and so he stopped in one of the stores and bought a pair, some white socks and a T-shirt with an Ocean City 1987 decal. He put the new things on and carried his other duds in the store bag.
.
Finally, he was at Division Street. This street was named that because it was the first street that you came to upon entering the resort town from the West via the Route 50 pike. There were maybe ten more blocks farther down the Boardwalk, where it ended at the Lighthouse by the Inlet. Basically, it divided the older buildings along the Boardwalk from the more modern ones.
.
Thom located the French Fries kiosk and stood in the long line waiting for his turn. He could not help but notice an older woman starring at him. She was sitting on a bench nearby and her eyes had a puzzled appearance. The woman looked oddly familiar but Thom could not place her. She was wearing a long black dress with a tanked top revealing a beautiful Pearl Necklace. Thom decided that after he purchased his Bucket o’ Fries that he’d approach the woman. Maybe she’d speak to him and he’d figure out how he knew her and from where. The line snaked around behind the tables and chairs that were placed there for people to sit while enjoying their French Fries. After another five minutes or so, Thom received his order and paid. Then, he walked back around to where the elderly woman was seated.

… Finally, he was at Division Street. ..

Old Yeller

Friday October 9, 2009
** ********* ********* **

Grandpa, why did they shoot
.

Old Yeller

When I was a young little boy, I spent a few days with my Grandma & Grandpa.
My Grandpa took me to see the Movie, Old Yeller.
It was a cool movie but at the end, when they shot Old Yeller, I cried, of course.
As we were leaving the Theatre, I asked Grandpa why they had to shoot him. My Grandpa put his hand on my shoulder, as to comfort me .. and told me that it was because the dog killed some chickens.
It never really seemed quite right .. but that’s how it was.
.
Several months passed and my Family went to have a Sunday Dinner with those Grandparents. Several of my Uncles and Aunts and their Families were there, as well.
That morning, my Grandma picked some Ears of Corn from their Garden and killed several Chickens and plucked them, preparing for the large Meal.
.
That afternoon, after everyone had eaten their fill, the Family retired to the back Porch where they sat and talked. My Grandpa, who was a Hunter took out his old Shotgun and began cleaning it.
.
The story that my Family tells goes like this:
I approached my Grandpa and with tears in my eyes, asked him if he was going to shoot Grandma. When he assured me that he wasn’t going to shoot her – he asked why on Earth I asked that question.
My simple child-like answer was,
“ Well, .. because she killed some Chickens ! “

Sensation

Tommy:
I overwhelm as I approach you
Make your lungs hold breath inside!
Lovers break caresses for me
Love enhanced when I've gone by.
You'll feel me coming,
A new vibration
From afar you'll see me
I'm a sensation.
They worship me and all I touch
Hazy eyed they catch my glance,
Pleasant shudders shake their senses
My warm momentum throws their stance.
You'll feel me coming
A new vibration
From afar you'll see me
I'm a sensation.
I leave a trail of rooted people
Mesmerised by just the sight,
The few I touch are now disciples
Love as One
I Am the Light...
Soon you'll see me can't you feel me
I'm coming...
Send your troubles dancing
he knows the answer
I'm coming...
I'm a sensation.

5500 Years From Home

.
Today, we peruse the 1st page of Chapter 16 – Page 131.
.
Enjoy !

5500 YEARS FROM HOME

chapter Sixteen … page 131
.
Ocean City

.
As the orb ascended into it’s navigational transport jaunt aimed at 2008 with but just one final stepping stone remaining, the EOB explained to Thom that their next layover and last one prior to Thom’s homecoming would be somewhere towards the equidistant medial span of past and future. And that with it being the last one that Thom would have to endur, it would require a all-inclusive day or two interlude for retooling the cosmognal empyreans. Also, the Orb had an unelevated measure of alkali chloride that would require replenishment. Beneficially, in the form of misty molecules.
.
Thom took this to represent a two day intermission around 1987-’88 in a humid region near a body of salt water. So be it.
.
The craft was, now, operating in the manner for which it was designed. Once 2008 was realized, the EOB would traverse the remaining 5500 years in an astrological deciduous heartbeat. So, both men were serene and peacefully overjoyed. So much so that torpidity engulfed them both. Both relaxed in lethargic repose.
.
The Orb was hastened by an absolute time transition. There was no parallel dimension crossed. There was no need for backtracking in order to fit in with all the history of the future. Everything was ornate.
.
As the Orb zeroed in on a capable position to station itself, a construction site at a nearby resort town was pre chosen. The reasoning behind such a destination was decidedly appropriate. It would, not only, allow Thom to come and go over the 36 hour lair, it would present the now healthy EOB a chance to view a laid back vacationland of his past descendants with altimetry and privacy. The spot was the 5th floor penthouse of a partially built Hotel on the Atlantic Ocean. The Independence Day weekend break for the construction workers provided both men with the extravagant Beachfront view and bounteous amenities befitting timeless royalty.

.
… Both relaxed in lethargic repose. ..

Well, NE QB Tom Brady & NE WR Randy Moss did team up for a TD
BUT
they still are not performing up to 1st & 2nd round Draft Picks' status.
But I'll take it .. as long as MIA RB Ronnie Brown continues to put up
decent numbers .. and he is.
Plus, his MIA RunningMate Ricky Williams is doing quite well, also.
I may have to play BOTH of them, together, soon.
DET RB Kevin Smith isn't accumulating large chunks of yardage
BUT
he did find the End Zone twice, this week, vs. a tough Bears Defense on the road.
Diminutive SD RB Darren Sproles let me down this week with only 1 reception
for 16 yards due in large part to the Steelers suffocating Defense
and the fact that LT2 is back in the LineUp.
MIN WR Bernard Berrian hauled in a 31 yard TD from Brett Favre
on Monday Night making up for TEN WR Justin Gage sucking so badly.
HOU TE Owen Daniels isn't setting the world on fire but is a fine TE
for Fantasy purposes..
The NYG D/ST is tops in the League and helping me greatly as is their
K Lawrence Tynes .. although he has missed 2 relatively easy FGA
in the last 2 weeks.
.
Next week my FishHeads II team takes on
Division rival Josh Rideout's Gray Ghosts team.
Teams on BYE during this 5th week will be the Bears, Packers,
Saints and Chargers. All I'll lose is Darren Sproles from my Roster ..
but I was going to sit him, anyway .. and re-install
PIT RB Fast Willie Parker (who isn't so fast anymore)
into my LineUp.

Smash The Mirror

Mother:
You don't answer my call
With even a nod or a wink
But you gaze at your own reflection!
You don't seem to see me
But I think you can see yourself.
How can the mirror affect you?
.
Can you hear me
Or do I surmise?
That you fear me can you feel my temper
Rise
Rise
Rise
Rise
Rise
Rise
Rise
Rise
RISE
RISE
RISE
RISE
RISE.
.
Do you hear or fear or
Do I smash the mirror.
Do you hear of fear or
Do I smash the mirror?
.
SMASH!
