5500 Years From Home
In addition to the 250 plus Lyrical Pieces that I have written and received Copyright Protection from the Library Of Congress - I have, also, written a Novel (copyrighted but not Published) entitled 5500 Years From Home. I am currently working on a 2nd Book entitled The Island that I am about 1/2 the way towards completion, at this date. I have decided to, occasionally, post excerpts from 5500 Years From Home in this Blog space.
Today, we peruse Chapter 1 – Page 1. Enjoy !

Coventry
The muffled, distant sounds of joyful singing could be heard for many blocks throughout the tiny little village of Coventry. Near Main Street and Bridge Road, two 'townies' are exiting a pub carrying packages wrapped in bright, shiny and colorful paper. Few others scurry about with determined looks on their faces, clutching lists with names yet to be scratched off. The street is aglow in red, green and blue lights hanging from the businesses. As we grow nearer to the Poeple's Church, it is obvious that the unseasonably warm weather has caused there to be several windows to be opened. The large Christmas Eve congregation is making itself heard in holiday hymm. Glory.
Audrey Martin is sitting with her ten year old daughter, Cyndi and her seven year old son, Corey. Her husband, Thom would be with them but he is hoping to find that Space Rocket bicycle that Corey wants, at the mall in the city. Three other places that stocked the bike had sold out before the Martins could get there.
Audrey's parents are visiting during the holidays. Her mother, Janice is at their house right now fixing dinner and getting ready for the holiday meal on Christmas. Her father, Charles Carlton, 67
has just retired after fifty years of veterinary work. He has gotten Cyndi a pony for Christmas. He and Thom have fixed a place for it in the old barn that sits down the hill behind the Martin's house. Corey thinks the work done down at the barn is for him to have a clubhouse. Charles is there now and the pony is being delivered .

During the Doxology, Audrey finds herself thinking of all these
things and hoping all has gone well. It will be a wonderful time with the family regardless of the availability of the Space Rocket.
It is truly a time of the year to reflect on all the blessings that are bestowed upon us. Glory to God.
