Dear Blog

This past week, we witnessed the 2nd Presidential Debate of the Season.

I have, already, explained to my Readers that I am a political Independent .. but I cannot reward the Republican Party with my 2008 Vote after these last 8 years.
From the beginning, Cheney / Bush, Rumsfeld, Rice et al have made mistake after mistake after mistake. Many bordering on blunders.
Allowing the 9/11 attacks on their watch after being warned vociferously by President Clinton and CIA Head, Richard Clarke about al Qaeda is the most overwhelming but just the beginning. They followed that up by attacking and invading Iraq and spending 7 endless years there .. spending 10 billion dollars per month while killing over 3,500 American GIs, hundreds of American civilians and tens of thousands of innocent Iraq civilians. Remember the 'Mission Accomplished' banner after just a month into that quagmire ? And this wasn’t even who attacked us !
Then, there’s the funding of Pakistani freedom fighters with millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to capture Osama bin Laden which they took and laughed all the way to the Bank w/o producing bin Laden, the Brownie’s doing a great job Katrina catastrophe, Harriet Myers Supreme Court nod, Cheney shooting a hunting buddy and not reporting it for 8 hours, and the Economy mess iced with the Wall Street Bailout.
I’ll stop there because to include every faux pas would be cause to have to purchase additional Blog bandwith.

Barack Obama won that Debate by all accounts including the Republican pundits. But what we saw in that Debate was the nasty McCain / Republican agenda. McCain followed that up during this past week by inciting near mob riots at his and Palin’s campaign stumps.
In that Debate, McCain walked around the set resembling a lost old man looking for his Hotel room (and that was a remark made by a Republican pundit).

I’ll cap my remarks by concluding that McCain is not going to win this Election even though he has done a 180 (degree) on all his previous alignments from 8 years ago. He should have stayed on that message instead of trying to appease the Bush Republicans.
I predict that Obama wins this Election by 10-15 % .. and THAT would be a landslide. It’s entirely possible that he wins 338 Electoral College votes when 270 elects the President.
Goodbye John McCain. Good riddance Governor Palin.

The Washington Redskins .. lost 17 – 19, Sunday, to the St. Louis Rams.
How in the Hell can the Washington Redskins beat the Dallas Cowbabies and the Philadelphia Iggles back to back, both on the Road .. and then lose at Home to the 0 – 4, lousy, god awful St. Louis Rams ?
Over confidence ? Maybe.
Sluggish play ? Probably.
Three Turnovers ? BINGO ! You got it. Turnovers will beat you nearly every time. The Redskins had none in the first 5 games – then, 3 in the first half, today.

Clinton Portis ran 21 times for 129 yards and 2 TDs.
Jason Campbell completed 18 passes in 26 attempts for 208 yards and no TDs but no INTs.
Redskins TE, Chris Cooley lost a Fumble as did Campbell and OL Pete Kendall.

In the best Division in the NFL (the NFC East) ..
The Gints (sic) are 4 – 0 with a Monday Night game, this week
while the Redskins and Cowbabies are 4 – 2
and the Iggles are 2 - 3.

Now – the Redskins need to forget this debacle and come back and beat these next 2 opponents. Enough said !

The Redskins next game is at FedEx Field, Sunday, October 19 at 4:15 PM verses the Cleveland Browns.
The game will be televised by CBS and can be seen in the Washington market on channel 9. In Key West, it can viewed it on Direct TVs Sunday Ticket.

Now Baseball:
The Philadelphia Phillies lead the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2 games to 1 in the best of 7 National League Championship Series.
In the American League Championship Series, the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays are tied at 1 game apiece.

The winners of these 2 Series’ will meet in the World Series. Since the American League won this year’s All-Star Game .. they will have Home Field Advantage in that best of 7 Series.

Jeff Burton won NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series Race, the Bank Of America 500 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, Notyh Carolina on Saturday, October 11 and televised, nationally, by ABC.
Kasey Kahne finished 2nd and Kurt Busch finished 3rd.
The Race was the 5th of 10 in what is being called the ‘Chase’ .. and equates to NASCAR’s Playoffs to Championship run.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin finished 11th, 4th and 16th, respectively. The other JGR member who is slated to replace Tony Stewart, next year ( Joey Lagano ) did not compete.
These 3 top Driver’s are currently ranked 7th, 9th and 12th in the ‘Chase’.

The next NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race will be the Tums QuikPak Bank 500 at the Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Virginia on Sunday, October 19 at 1:30 PM and televised, nationally, by ABC.

The Washington Capitals have a record of 1 – 1 in the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League.
Tonight, the Vancouver Canucks visit the Caps at the Verizon Center .. at
F Street between 6th & 7th Street in Northwest Washington, D.C..

The National Basketball Association’s Washington Bullets open their 2008 – 2009 Season on October 29, 2008 at the aforementioned Verizon Center verses the New Jersey Nets.

Rascal is, still, doing well.

Today in Key West, the high air temperature is predicted to be 79 degrees with a overnight low of 47 degrees.
Today’s LoCo weather forecast calls for air temperatures of 85 degrees and with an overnight low of 79 degrees.
