BREAKING NEWS

BREAKING..NEWS :
,
,
Illinois Senator, Barack Obama can now (and for the next 2 1/2 months) be referred to as: President Elect Barack Obama. Then, on January 20, 2009 - he will be President Barack Obama. The 44th President of the United States of America.

Obama won this Election by receiving 62,680,702 Popular Votes to John McCain's 55,542,743.
That's a winning margin of 7,137,959 Popular Votes.
And this is what is known as a Landslide.

BUT, what is even more impressive is that Obama collected 349 Electoral College Electors to McCain's 147 (with 42 still outstanding). 270 is the winning amount needed.
THAT is a difference of 202 Electors. The largest such margin in 40 years.
President G.W. Bush received just 271 in the last Election.

I think I speak for all of Americans when I say THAT IS A MANDATE !

Yesterday afternoon, before any Election results were announced - an epiphany overcame me and I felt it necessary to pen a tribute to Barack Obama and this era.
I do not want to attempt to fool anyone into thinking that I perceive this to be any anthem or epic wordsmanship; it took 10 minutes to scribble down .. but came, directly, from the Heart.
Simplistic and honest.

that’s what turned
my red state blue

verse 1
in the 2000s
seeds have been sewn
wars and death
and foreclosed homes

pensions gone
and healthcare, too

hope and change
is something new
and that’s what turned
my red state blue
.
verse 2
the last eight years
have taken a toll
freedoms lost
right down a hole

where’s bin laden
we haven’t a clue

hope and change
is something new
and that’s what turned
my red state blue
.
verse 3
exasperation
had taken hold
our warm fuzzies
had gotten mighty cold

where do we turn
what are we gonna do

hope and change
is something new
and that’s what turned
my red state blue
.
verse 4
the old dominion
is where i live
it’s where i gave
all i have to give

i love my country
yes, it’s true

hope and change
is something new
and that’s what turned
my red state blue
.
verse 5
and so i ask
for a simple answer
who can extract
this awful cancer

barack obama
and that is who

hope and change
is something new
and that’s what turned
my red state blue
.
yes, hope and change
is something new
and that’s what turned
my red state blue
.
that’s what turned
my red state blue
