the ANT & the GRASSHOPPER

My version of:
the ANT & the GRASSHOPPER
with apologies to Wikipedia and Jim Henson

The Ant and the Grasshopper is a fable attributed to Aesop, providing a moral lesson about hard work and preparation .. written by B. E. Perry.

The fable concerns a Grasshopper who has spent the warm months singing away while the Ant worked to store up food for winter. After the Winter has come, the Grasshopper finds itself dying of hunger, and upon asking the Ant for food .. is only rebuked for its idleness.

The story is used to teach the virtues of hard work and saving, and the perils of improvidence. Some versions of the fable state a moral at the end, along the lines of:

Idleness brings want.

To work today is .. to eat tomorrow

It is best to prepare for the days of necessity

Now, I understand the importance of working and saving ..
But I never did appreciate the Ant for being stingy. I’m not stingy .. and I hate stingyness.

So, this is my ending:
As Winter came on .. and it was cold and snowing and the wind was howling ..
The Ant was crossing the Highway with his food .. in an attempt to hide it from the no account Grasshopper, when .. he was run over and killed by the Grasshopper who was on his way to Key West, Florida for the Winter .. driving the 1958 red Corvette that his girlfriend gave him .. because she dug his Singing & Fiddle Playing, so much.
