chapter Seven … page 53

Emergency Jump

At least, for a while. Soon, cars were parking all along the road and people were meandering all over the place. Finally, the County Police were summoned out to the Hills to keep the traffic moving.
By evening, the Police were keeping cars moving fairly well and most cars were no longer parking dangerously close to the road.
Audrey fielded a phone call from the County Court informing the Martins that a Court Order was going to be delivered during the next business day giving the Court the right to search the Martin’s property. No attorney was going to be able to delay this Order.

Thom, Audrey, Janice and Charles had decided that a plan B was going to be necessary. Again, Thom went out to discuss the matter with the EOB. With no place to move the Orb and no way to delay the search until the January 1st Jump in New York, they were going to have to make arrangements to relocate the Orb. It was decided that Charles would go into Gundy and rent a medium sized Moving Van. Then, during the middle of the night, they would remove the Orb from the barn and sneak it into the Moving Van. That way, they could drive the Van into another location closer to New York.

As darkness covered the landscape and it became impossible to see any distances, especially from the road to over the ridge to the barn – Thom began preparing the Orb for a move. By the time Charles returned with the Truck, more people were browsing the fields near the Martin’s home. Charles decided to back the Truck up to near the house’s front door. Maybe if they made it look like they were moving some furniture, the onlookers wouldn’t suspect anything else was taking place. Charles entered the house and actually brought out an End Table and a lamp .. just to give the appearance of furniture moving. Janice joined in by carrying some of there belongings and a suitcase into the Moving Van. Audrey decided to do likewise. She grabbed some clothing bags and deposited them into the Truck.

… With no place to move the Orb ..
