Communications Class: Viet Nam War era
Drill Sergeant: Now you Trainees listen up to the Class Instructor .. and do exactly as he says. No foolishness !
Class Instructor: Okay, men. This is the new modern communications device called the PRC 25. It weighs 20 pounds and you can talk on it to another PRC 25, up to 5 miles away. Now, when you’re talking on this device, you must obey certain fundamental laws of speech. So as not to be talking when someone else is talking, you must say OVER when you’re through speaking and are ready to listen to the other person speak. And when you are finished talking, altogether, and are not expecting a reply – you must say OUT ! Do you all understand this ? OVER. OUT. Got it ?
Class: (in unison) - YES DRILL SERGEANT !
Class Instructor: Okay, men. Good. Now, let’s have a demonstation. I need 2 men to show us a practical use demonstration. Eastham .. Spurlock .. get on up here. Now you 2 men show us what you’ve learned. And don’t talk all day !
Eastham: Help .. I’ve had an accident. I just turned my Jeep OVER !
Spurlock: Alright .. I’ll come down there and help you OUT.
Class Instructor: No, no, no, no, no, NO ! Go sit down !
Spurlock & Eastham: ?
