5500 Years From Home
In addition to the 250 plus Lyrical Pieces that I have written and received Copyright Protection from the Library Of Congress - I have, also, written a Novel (copyrighted but not Published) entitled 5500 Years From Home. I am currently working on a 2nd Book entitled The Island that I am about 1/2 the way towards completion, .. but have suspended at this time.
.
I have decided to, occasionally, post excerpts from
5500 Years From Home in this Blog space.
Today, we peruse the 8th page of Chapter 11 – Page 102.

Franklin's Bolts
Franklin seemed to have saved his current Discovery / Invention question for last when he breathed deeply and said to Thom only the interrogative words Electrical Fluid ? Thom hoisted his Lager up and took a big swig. Then he reached out and patted Ben on the side of his arm and told him that there are lighting, Radio wave Sound Boxes & Visual Boxes that transmit people’s voices and visions, home machines of all kinds that do the basic jobs as well as fun games and everything else imaginable that rely solely on what is now know as Electricity .. and that Franklin and only Franklin, himself is given full credit for what may be the greatest invention of all time.
.
It was at this point that the smile that had adorned Franklin’s face and had morphed into a hearty laugh followed by a cackle was now disappearing. Within a brief moment, he had removed his eyeglasses and retrieved his monogrammed neckerchief and began to wipe away a few tears that had materialized in his hazel colored eyes and began to roll down his flushed cheeks. Thom was witnessing a truly humble view of a man known for his bravado and unabashed grandeur.

Franklin was 46 years old at this time and would go on to live nearly another 40 years. His wide deep earnest eyes portrayed a man who had fulfilled a life’s ambition. Franklin looked at Thom in the eyes as if looking deeply into his soul and remarked that he was going to live the remainder of his life trying to be a leader of causes and a uniter of dreams and a coming together of factions.

Both men consumed the remainder of their brews and Franklin stood and reached into his pocket to make payment for the men’s libations consumed. Cecil Harris looked at Ben and told him to put his coins away, that his money was no good in his establishment.
Cecil could see that Ben was in an emotional state and hugged him as Ben and Thom prepared to exit the Bar .. and men hugging another was not nearly stylish in the 1750s as it was in Thom’s 2008 day.
