Dear Blog

I have a Summer Cold, this week ! #&%@!*^) !

I have .. and will continue to keep this Blog apolitical. For the record – I am an Independent voter. I vote for whomever the hell I feel like. I refuse to join a group or party and tow THEIR line.
Entertainment is my supreme goal at this Blog.

That said - yesterday, I received an e-mail from an acquaintance that was bulk mailed to him .. and from him to his address book. Some of you may have seen it, as well. It was a correspondence from a military Captain in Afghanistan named Jeffery Porter. Cpt. Porter tells EVERYBODY that he witnessed Barack Obama’s recent arrival in that War zone. He spews a hatred towards Obama saying that he OBVIOUSLY does not love the Troops. He reports that Obama blew off the Troop line without so much as a look in their direction.
He added that Obama, again, blew past the line of Troops to get a photo op of him playing Basketball with several GIs.
Furthermore, Cpt. Porter assesses that the NBA Players and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders showed more respect to the Troops than did Barack Obama.
He completes his statements by telling us that the slick Obama that we all see on the TV is not the real Obama. That we don’t know the caliber of this man and that he is a fake.

Now, this is something that would certainly be of importance to a U.S. voter in 2008 IF and let me repeat IF it were true. But it was not.
What embarrassed me as much as this ‘dirty trick’ was the several e-mail recipients that responded by saying that this bit of news was disheartening.
The first thing that I did was research these accusations and found it to be completely false. Made up. I found pictures of Barack Obama shaking hands with the Troops .. AND a retraction by Cpt. Porter saying his correspondence was supposed to be a private joke to his family .. ALTHOUGH he sent it bulk mailed to over a thousand e-mail addresses AND pleaded that these recipients send it to ALL their address book.
I can only wonder what those people who bought this ‘dirty trick’ as gospel would believe to be truthful JUST because they read it.
I am saddened .. but not shocked. I am old enough to have witnessed these types of ‘dirty tricks’ throughout my lifetime.
Also, Cpt. Porter is being investigated by the Military for illegal actions.
Shame. Shame.

On Saturday around Noon, my Daughter drove out towards Ashburn, Virginia to a local sandwich shoppe to procure Lunch for both of us. About 15 minutes later she phoned me saying that there was a terrible traffic jam just West of Route 28. Apparently, she had traveled a distance of about 2 feet in 10 minutes. I told her to turn around and find another food establishment, which she did.
What was the reason for this traffic mess ? Well, the Washington Redskins were hosting Fan Appreciation Day at Redskins Park, their Ashburn home.
They were having a intrasquad scrimmage, also.
These types of events in most NFL cities draw between 500 and 5,000 fans.
Yesterday, the Redskins attendance was a staggering 28,000 people.
The traffic jam was not isolated to Church Road. Loudoun County Parkway’s 5 mile stretch from the Toll Road out to Redskins Park was a parking lot. Nobody was moving. Finally, vehicles were pulling off the roads onto any grassy spot available .. and walking to this event. It was truly Woodstock-esque.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department reports that they have NEVER witnessed such road congestion.
Newly acquired DE Jason Taylor and new Head Coach Jim Zorn as well as the new Draft Choices and Free Agents have had their first glimpse of Redskins Nation. Taylor and Zorn are on record as being AMAZED.

The Redskins will open the Pre-Season schedule for all NFL teams in the Hall Of Fame game verses the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday August 3, 2008 in Canton, Ohio. That day, Darrell Green and Art Monk will be inducted in the NFL Hall Of Fame. Congratulations to those Redskins GREATS.

So join with me, now, in singing …

Hail to the Redskins! Hail Victory!
Braves on the Warpath! Fight for old D.C.!
Run or pass and score -- we want a lot more!
Beat 'em, Swamp 'em, Touchdown! -- Let the points soar!
Fight on, fight on 'Til you have won Sons of Wash-ing-ton. Rah!, Rah!, Rah!
Hail to the Redskins! Hail Victory!
Braves on the Warpath! Fight for old D.C.!

* On August 17, 1938, “Hail to the Redskins” made its debut as the official fight song of the Washington Redskins. Since its debut 54 years ago, the song, written by renowned band leader Barnee Breeskin, has had a few minor changes from the original lyrics penned by Corinne Griffith(wife of owner George Preston Marshall). Griffith’s original lyrics had “Fight for old Dixie” instread of today’s “Fight for old D.C.” Also, Griffith originally had “Scalp ‘em, Swamp ‘em. We will take‘em big score. Read ‘em, weep ‘em Touchdown, we want heap more” instead of today’s version.

Now, Baseball: The Nats still suck after losing all 6 of their games this past week in California; 3 in San Francisco to the Giants and 3 in Los Angeles to the Dodgers. They haven’t scored a stinkin’ run in the last 19 freaking innings.
Enough said.

Jimmie Johnson won NASCAR’s Allstate 400 at the Brickyard at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Carl Edwards finished 2nd and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin finished 3rd.
JGR’s Tony Stewart finished 23rd.

The next NASCAR Race will be sponsored by Cheez-It at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania on Sunday, August 3.

Soon, I will fly to Key West, Florida but I will not report it here at this Blog nor will I elaborate on it, further.

Today in Key West, the high air temperature is predicted to be 88 degrees with a Relative Humidity of only 63 %.
Today’s LoCo weather forecast calls for air temperatures of 90 degrees but with a Relative Humidity of 88 %.

Okay, thanks for dropping by this Blog, today.
I hope to see you, tomorrow, for amateur Lyricist day at this URL.

My time is, now, up .. I thank you for yours.
