Dear Blog

Well, it’s ( Summer ) Olympics time.
The Opening Ceremonies from Beijing, China were televised this past Friday night and I understand they were fabulous. I say that because I missed most of the pageantry due to the fact that those pesky little creatures known as ants found their way into my Kitchen cabinets and somehow located a small hole in a box / bag of Graham Crackers. Upon my discovering them, I spent the next two and a half hours cleaning out the cabinets and killing each .. one by one.
I had just set off an insect bomb less than a month prior which usually rids the residence of fleas, ticks, spiders, ants and all other insects for 2-3 months. Not this time .. evidently.
Today, I will ‘bomb’, once again (which I, now, have completed)

But I digress – the Olympic Games have begun and Medals have been awarded.
As of Saturday morning .. the USA had won a Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Mariel Zagunis won the Gold, Sada Jacobson captured the Silver and Becca Ward took the Bronze Medals .. all in Fencing (Women’s Individual Sabre).
By Sunday .. there were 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze in the USA column.
Michael Phelps went Gold in the 400m IM (Men’s Swimming) while the combination of Jenny Thompson, Natalie Coughlin, Kara Lynn Joyce & Weir Amanda took the Silver in the 4 x 100 Freestyle Relay (Women’s Swimming) and Ryan Lochte brought home the Bronze in the 400m IM (Men’s Swimming).
And at this Monday morning reporting .. the USA has won 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 5 Bronze Medals.

One quick thought on John Edwards. WTF were you doing running for President with this affair out there. You knew it was common knowledge among the Media. Maybe they weren’t blasting it all over the TV and newspapers but it was only a matter of time before the cat escaped the bag.
Dude – you could have single handedly elected John McCain had you, somehow, won the Democratic Presidential nomination .. or even been selected in the Veepstakes.
Go home .. and don’t come back.
Elizabeth didn’t deserve to have you do this to her .. ESPECIALLY while she has Cancer ! I am sickened by this !

The Redskins played their 2nd Pre-Season game of 2008 verses the Buffalo Bills on Saturday August 9, 2008 .. at Fed ExField, their 92,000 seat Home Stadium.

Again (as in the 1st pre-season game) the game was played, mostly, by 2nd stringers and deep bench players.
The Redskins dominated the statistical portion of the contest but squeaked by on the final score, 17-14.

There are, still, three more pre-season contests before the Redskins open the NFL season by traveling to New York to play the defending Super Bowl Champion Giants on Thursday September 4, 2008.
Next Saturday, the Redskins travel to the Meadowlands to play the New York Favres .. I mean Jets in the 3rd of 5 Pre-Season contests. If you haven’t, already, heard .. Brett Farve has been signed by the J-E-T-S.

Now, Baseball: The Nats followed last week’s 3 game sweep of the Reds by taking 3 of 4 from the Colorado Rockies in Denver but have lost 3 straight games in Milwaukee against the Brewers with one to play, later today.
Even after winning 6 of their last 10 – they, still, have the worst record in MLB.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch won NASCAR’s Crown Royal 200 at Watkins Glen in upstate New York on Sunday August 10. It was his 8th Cup win of the year. JGR’s Tony Stewart finished 2nd while Marcos Ambrose finished 3rd.
JGR’s Denny Hamlin finished 8th.

The next NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race will be the 3M Performance 400 at Michigan International Speedway .. on Sunday, August 17.

Soon, I will fly to Key West, Florida but I will not report it here at this Blog nor will I elaborate on it, further.

Today in Key West, the high air temperature is predicted to be 90 degrees with a Relative Humidity of 67 %.
Today’s LoCo weather forecast calls for air temperatures of 80 degrees and with a Relative Humidity of 60 %.

Okay, thanks for dropping by this Blog, today.
I hope to see you, tomorrow, for amateur Lyricist day at this URL.
