5500 YEARS FROM HOME

chapter Six … page 49

Secret’s Out

After the three of them climbed down from the barn’s attic and began their walk back to the house, Charles ruminated aloud that Janice should make sure to visit a Doctor immediately upon their return home after the holidays. Janice assured Charles that she would.

On their way back across the ridge, Thom caught sight of a figure creeping around the property’s edge. This time, Thom called out to the person as they sneaked away. Angered and worried at the same time, Thom yelled that he was calling the Authorities and reporting their Radio station. Hoping that it was the same person that the EOB identified earlier in the day.

All of the adults worried about the safety of the EOB but with less than a week before he could return to his time travel homeward, there seemed little that could be done. Just pray and hope.

The next morning, as the family awoke, it was obvious that something was not quite right. The pony was neighing and making more noise than it had in the three days that it had been there. And there were several cars parked just down the road from the Martin’s house. By the time that Thom and Charles dressed and hurried out the door, it was obvious that somebody was down at the barn. Thom returned to the house and quickly grabbed his shotgun and sprinted down to the barn. There, he found the barn door open and two men who were carrying audio-visual equipment. Both of the intruders were milling about but neither were running away or trying to escape.

Thom screamed at them to drop there equipment. When they didn’t, he raised the shotgun and pointed it directly at them. Finally, one of the intruders began setting the camera down, that he had been holding. He looked at Thom and remarked that the gun would not scare them nearly as much as what they had just seen. The other intruder dropped his audio-recorder and starred vacantly at Thom.

… and quickly grabbed his shotgun ..
