flowers

i love flowers
won't you agree
they have a lovely fragrance
and they're beautiful to see
growing wild in the meadow
the sun smiles on them
and the breeze makes them dance
as they're blowing in the wind

yes, god's plants and flowers
are like silk and lace
and it makes me so happy
brings a smile to my face
people give them to loved ones
in so many ways
sometimes when they're sick
and on many holidays

i give flowers to my friends
that i grow in my yard
they know it's the way i am
it's my calling card
yes they are my trademark
with them i identify
i wear them in my hair
and i bake them in a pie

i don't know what i'd do
without flowers in my day
life would be less colorful
i can't imagine it that way
so i will continue
to be the flower child
and i know i'll be likened
to them growing in the wild
