la concha

taken from a story that can be found at the following website page:

You unlock this door with an imagination key.
Another dimension lies just beyond .. a dimension of sound, sight and mind.
You’re entering into a land of shadow & substance, of things & ideas.
You’ve just crossed over into:
Things That Go Bump In The Night

1st verse
well someday when i’m sitting there
in my proverbial rocking chair
thinking about the strange things that i’ve seen
many things will come to mind
with explanations undefined
so many experiences i don’t know what they mean

hook
so i’m never going back
to the la concha hotel
echo:  (la concha hotel)
no i never want to relive
that haunting spell
echo:  (haunting spell)
so i’m never going back
to the la concha hotel
echo:  (la concha hotel)
no i don’t ever want to be
that close to hell
echo:  (that close to hell)

2nd verse
as the years pass on by
and i begin to wonder why
apparitions emerge occasionally
encounters seem destined to appear
to mortals who know the fear
and i know i’m one allegorically

repeat hook

3rd verse
on new year’s eve in 1983
a hotel busboy cleaning up debris
fell to his death when a conveyor missed his floor
a few weeks later i was there
in a face to face, eye to eye stare
something that i’ll never be able to account for

 repeat hook

4th verse
these things seem to happen in key west
as a matter of fact it’s my 2nd test
i even made love to girl who’d been dead 8 years
she took me down to the spanish mission
you can read about it in my 11th edition   ** see addendum below **
that island can really fuel your ghostly fears

5th verse  -  repeat 1st verse

 repeat hook   (3x – out)

Incident at a Key West hotel.
A man named Larry goes seeking a holiday journey but the journey that he stumbles upon is one that he did not expect.
The lesson learned is one as old as the ages.
When you expire, you have no real connection to immortality.
Larry has learned this by entering:
Things That Go Bump In The Night

key west episode

          one

i’ve been home a week now
but that voice is still haunting me
i was at the end of the earth
in my pop’s g.m.c.
no one knows what i’m thinking
cause i haven’t let it go too far
i told them i went down south
but i was visiting another star
i was in so deep in paradise
but she promised to get me back to my place
my body was in her soul that night
but her soul was in outer space

          chorus

and she said larry
let’s go the spanish mission
there will be a place for us there
baby
let’s walk up to the spanish mission
you will find yourself
if you can stand the scare
background:  (you will find yourself, if you can stand the scare)

          two

so she reached out and grabbed me
although both of her hands were free
her smiling face and buttered tan
was just what i wanted to see
i had met her just two hours before
but i felt like i knew her ten years
she told me everything she could
and i listened patiently for five beers
i was in so deep in paradise
but she brought me back into her eyes
she had plenty of words to make me laugh
and a few to make me cry

          (repeat)  chorus

          three

and so up the steps of old
and through a huge nautical front door
we passed through the vestibule
and scampered down a corridor
she knew just where to take me
and i never questioned her word
later, although no one was around
there was something i though i had heard
my eyes were filled with emptiness
but still it didn’t seem right
and when i turned back around
she had vanished in the night
i was in so deep in paradise
but she promised not to leave me alone
although without her beside me
i was like a dog without his bone

           (repeat)  chorus

          four

i assumed she was only playing a game
so i put my trousers back on
i looked til fear engulfed me
but decided she must have gone
then on my way out onto the lawn
a man was standing there
he said son, please don’t ever tell anyone
you and my daughter were in there
a man who looked like you
took her in there in 1969
somebody slipped in and killed them both
but she comes back from time to time
i was in so deep in paradise
but she promised to get me back to my place
my body was in her soul that night
but her soul was in outer space

          (repeat)  chorus  ...  2X    -out-
