In 1977, when I was 27 years old, I was working for an HVAC company in Merrifield, Virginia known as W.T. Imlay & Sons.
I was Lead Mechanic in charge of a 5 man crew installing residential Sheet Metal for Forced Air Systems.

During this period, I had assigned 3 men to work on newly built Townhomes on Washington Street in Alexandria, Virginia while my number 1 Helper and I were working on old renavated Townhomes in the heavily guarded Historic District.
The Job that I was on was a TH that was originally built in 1791 and was going through it’s third major renovation.

One morning when we arrived at the job site, there was a great commotion going on concerning a lower level room that had been found that had been filled with dirt during one of the earlier renovations. This Historic District was extremely strict on such matters and it seemed that some quite valuable artifacts were discovered and some of the workers had absconded with them.
Myself, I unearthed a pile of literature on which one piece of paper was a flyer advertising an upcoming football game and dance between M Street High School and Old Towne High School that was being promoted by the Lincoln Athletic Association from the year 1910.

In the years since, I have misplaced that valuable flyer but I did sit and pen a few off-beat verses referring to it at the time.
In lieu of not having the flyer to show as witness, I will publish said writing for your viewing pleasure.
